Summer Growth Camp 2024: Empowering Changemakers
This year's Summer Growth Camp was truly unforgettable! Our "Changemaker 3.0: Building the African Girl" program brought together talented girls from 6 communities and schools across Lagos for an immersive experience.
We wanted our girls to know that Africa is their primary sphere of influence, full of possibilities. That's why we named our houses after inspiring leaders from across the continent's four regions.
The Chief of Party, Lydia Odeh from Palladium, kicked off the program with a powerful welcome address standing as a role model for our girls.
Our curriculum was built around the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) model, covering:
-
Tech Skills: Robotics and Gaming
-
Vocational Skills: Soap making and fragrance creation
-
Leadership: Public speaking, debate, dialogue, and discourse (our 3D initiative)
-
Etiquette: Fashion, diction, and hygiene
We wrapped up the camp with a movie watch party, inspiring our girls to take responsibility in their homes, communities, and nation.
Summer growth camps
Our Summer Growth Camp is a fun and immersive educational experience for girls who are part of our Growth Club program. During this exciting and learning period, we holistically nurture well-rounded African girl leaders. We achieve this by providing them with a comprehensive curriculum that includes technology training, entrepreneurship fundamentals, and inspiring sessions on becoming change-makers within their spheres of influence.
One crucial aspect of our camp is the opportunity for the girls to voice their concerns and challenges. We ensure that their voices are heard and can relate with us as "big sisters who offer guidance and support to help them overcome these obstacles.
Enterprise day - Christmas Pop-up sales
Enterprise Day - Christmas Pop-Up Sales is a special event designed to address the economic challenges faced by our girls. This initiative provides them with a unique opportunity to showcase and sell their products, thereby empowering them economically during the festive season.
This event not only encourages entrepreneurship but also fosters a sense of financial independence among the girls. By participating in the Christmas Pop-Up Sales, they gain valuable experience in marketing, sales, and customer interaction.
In addition to boosting their economic prospects, Enterprise Day is a platform for our girls to express their creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. It's a celebration of their hard work and dedication, offering them a chance to shine as budding businesswomen.
The event is a win-win situation, as it not only supports the girls in their economic endeavours but also offers the community a chance to discover unique and handcrafted items for the holiday season. This initiative embodies our commitment to empowering the girls we serve and creating a positive impact on their lives and communities.
Leadership Growth Club Classes
Our growth club classes are an integral program conducted within secondary schools while regular academic sessions are in progress. These classes serve as a dynamic platform designed to foster the development and growth of the girl child.
With a focus on empowering our young girls, these Growth Club sessions go beyond traditional classroom education. They offer a holistic approach to nurturing and equipping girls with essential life skills, knowledge, and confidence during their academic journey.
Through engaging activities, mentorship, and specialised programs, the Growth Club aims to cultivate well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also possess the skills, mindset, and self-assurance needed to excel in various aspects of life.
Girl Enterprise Day
This is our celebration of International day of the girl child. The aim of the program is to inspire and empower African girls to explore entrepreneurship, develop their business skills, and foster a culture of innovation and economic empowerment.
